Update on school life and a Movie Quote Meme

Friday, February 29, 2008

Sooo, I talked to my teachers today. Well, some of them. Mrs. Tobin, my English teacher, said she'll still accept the flash fiction assignment from me. She didn't even seem angry or disappointed with me. Gosh, I love Mrs. Tobin. She's is seriously like the coolest teacher I've ever had--even cooler than Mrs. Jackson (who is expecting a girl and is due sometime in March, by the way!)

History-- My teacher, Mr. Gorfida, wasn't there today, but I assume he'll still let me turn in my notebook (he's let me turn my notebook in late before), and that's my biggest concern with that class.

Spanish-- I talked to my teacher, Mrs. Lorenzo, and there are 4 assignments she's still going to let me turn in. Those assignments are:
1. A Spanish current event from the Entertainment section of telemundo.com
2. A Spanish current event from the Politics section of telemundo.com
3. Writing 3 paragraphs in spanish as a response to a story we read in our textbook.
4. Some assignment having to do with making a movie... Actually, this one was so long ago I can't even remember exactly what it was (Don't worry mom, I have a sheet of paper with the information on it, I just don't feel like looking it up right now u.u)
And on top of all that, our assignment for the weekend is to write 2 pages in our spanish journals about what we did this weekend. I hate writing those. In fact, I've skipped the last two or three assignments involving our journals. It's just so tedious! I don't know enough spanish to write with good style, and while I KNOW I have better writing style in Spanish than my peers do, I still feel like the writing is so robotic. It's like "I woke up this morning at 10 am and ate breakfast. Then I showered and got dressed." etc. etc. Except in Spanish.
Besides, being the perfectionist that I am, it takes me hours to do those stupid journals. But anyway, besides that, I also have a current event due Tuesday for a Sports article in spanish.
My teacher just laughed and was like, "It doesn't seem like we do much in here, but you know, if you don't do the assignments then they really just pile up, don't they?"
And I was just thinking, "You have no idea..." u.u Cuz she DOESN'T. I don't think she has a clue that I have about just as much work in History, English, and Chemistry each.

I don't think that even if I worked all weekend that I could accomplish it all...

But on to Chemistry-- I have done nothing in there this week. I am COMPLETELY clueless. Science is NOT my thing at all. In fact, it is SO not my thing, that I'm the most clueless person in my class. I'm not even exaggerating. Everyone in my class (a CP-level class, no less) understands chemistry better than I do. And I just look at these kids, and they're so average. I know that most of them are not 'smart kids'. In fact, there are really only like 5 kids in there I would say are anything remarkable. Allow me to describe them:

Kaitlyn Wiltshire - Band nerd, flute player, bad social skills. She's bad at English, and yet she somehow has a good reputation in there. She's pretty much a suck-up and she caves in to peer pressure easily. Probably comes from insecurity and lack of friends. I consider her a friend-of-sorts. She's nice, and even though she's pretty lame, bizarre, and boring to talk to, I can talk to her about band, Mrs. Battista, English, and History, so that's something.
Ariel Davati - This girl is pretty smart. I'm definitely having my doubts about my own smarts presently, but if I were to compare Ariel and Kaitlyn to myself normally, I would say they're about right on my level of intelligence, but in different subjects. They both kick butt in math and science, and I don't. Sure, I may be about at the top of my Algebra II class, but it IS considered to be a pretty average-level math class for a junior, so it's not much to brag about. And, as I've already said, my science skills are positively atrocious. Ariel, on the other hand, is great at those, AND she's decent at both English and Spanish. Sure, I'm beat her in those two areas, but she's pretty well-rounded, where I have science crippling me.
More about her besides academics: She plays saxophone in band, and she's pretty mean and obnoxious, but actually really funny. I've always had kind of had mixed feelings about her. I like her on the one hand and consider her a friend, but at the same time, she's just a really tough, mean person, and I'm really sensitive and I can't always tell when not to take her insulting remarks personally. Mostly, however, I've come to accept that she is who she is though, and, oddly enough,I like her, and I think she likes me and considers me a friend as well.
Hayden Johnson -- This boy is sickeningly perfect. He's tall, cute, and has pretty blue eyes. He's got like perfect grades (he has a 4.7 GPA!), but he still somehow finds time to be on the Basketball team. A guy this good has got to at least have a sucky personality (i.e. he's probably an arrogant toerag), right? Noo, not Hayden Johnson. He's painfully shy, modest, and sweet. I know a girl that went out with him for about a week. She's Mormon, actually, and she had to break it off because he was just TOO perfect. Poor Hayden. There really is no such thing as flawless, because being flawless becomes your flaw xD
Marcus Cono - Another quiet kid. He's in my math class too, and he does all his work in his head, pretty much, and gets points taken off because of it. It's really funny, actually, because I get better grades than him all the time even though HE has a more mathematical brain. I can tell it pisses him off, and I feel bad for him, but I'm still more amused than anything else at the irony.
Conner Adams - He's pretty smart, and athletic, but I still don't really like him much. At least he got his hair cut last year...

Anyway, moving on. I doubt you really cared to know about them, but I may make reference to them later on, so this way you'll have a little more information. And I probably won't talk about any of them much except for Ariel and Kaitlyn, because they're the only ones in the group I'm actually friends with (and even Kaitlyn's only a sort-of friend). Some other time I'll describe Angela Bryant for you. She's another friend of mine (though she doesn't fit into the smart-people category, much as she would like to...), and she, Ariel, and I share 4 of the same classes so we kinda group ourselves together when we can.

OKAY enough about that!

I need to hurry and post this Meme (I dunno why they're called that, but Memes are things that kind of circulate through blogs. They're pretty fun, and good for filler posts)

So look, here are the rules:

1. Pick 20 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search or other search functions.

(And actually, the original rules said to pick only 15 movies, but I wanted to do 20 =P So I'm sorry but this will probably get quite lengthy. However, if you choose to continue this meme, you can do whatever number of movies you want ^^)
Also, no cheating-- don't go looking for my favourite movies.
And I think I should probably make another rule for immediate family members (since they have a better idea about what my favourite movies are)-- I'll start with each person in our family only being allowed to get one movie right per hour. That means if you're one of my parents or siblings then you're only allowed to guess until you get one right and then you have to wait an hour before guessing again. Hopefully this will give you California folks a chance to participate as well (not that you have to though... =P)

(Oh, and the movies are in no particular order, by the way)

So, without further ado, allow me to present Movie #1!

Quote from Movie #1: (Dead Poets Society - Russell)
Character 1: Boys, you must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said, "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." Don't be resigned to that. Break out!

Quote from Movie #2: (Enchanted - Christopher)
Character 1
: Now if only I can find a place to rest my head for the night.
Character 2: What kind of place?
Character 1:
I don't know. Maybe a nearby meadow or a hollow tree.
Character 2: A hollow tree?
Character 1: Or a house full of dwarves. I hear they're very hospitable.

Quote from Movie #3: (Finding Nemo - Charli)
Character 1:
I suffer from short term memory loss. It runs in my family... At least I think it does... Where are they?

Quote from Movie #4: (The Mask of Zorro - Mom)
Character 1:
I would have killed him.
Character 2:
No, not today. He is trained to kill. You seem trained to drink. Oh, yes, my friend, you would have fought very bravely, and died very quickly. Who then would avenge your brother?

Quote from Movie #5: (Nightmare Before Christmas - Mom)
Character 1: That's twice this month you've slipped deadly nightshade into my tea and run off.
Character 2:
Three times!
Character 1:
You're mine, you know! I made you, with my own two hands...
Character 2:
You can make other creations! I'm restless, I can't help it!
Character 1:
It's a phase, my dear, it'll pass. We just need to be patient, that's all.
Character 2:
But I don't want to be patient!

Quote from Movie #6: (The Patriot - Dad)
Character 1:
He cannot be held as a spy.
Character 2: We're not going to hold him. We're going to hang him.

Quote from Movie #7: (Series of Unfortunate Events - Christopher)
Character 1:
You know, there's a big world out there filled with desperate orphans who would gladly swim across an ocean of thumbtacks just to be eclipsed by the long shadow that is cast by my accomplishments. But I don't care about them. I chose to open my heart to you two lovely children and your hideous primate.

Quote from Movie #8: (Moulin Rouge - Theresa)
Character 1: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

Quote from Movie #9: (Alice in Wonderland - Mom)
Character 1: I simply must get through!
Character 2:
Sorry, you're much too big. Simply impassible.
Character 1:
You mean impossible?
Character 2:
No, impassible. Nothing's impossible.

Quote from Movie #10: (Back to the Future - Dad)
Character 1:
Whoa, this is heavy.
Character 2:
There's that word again; "heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pull?

Quote from Movie #11: (The Day After Tomorrow - Russell)
Character 1: I'm not angry. I'm disappointed.
Character 2: Do you wanna hear my side of it?
Character 1: Sam, how can there be two sides?
Character 2: Hey, look, I got every question right on the final and the only reason Mr. Spengler failed me was because I didn't write out the solutions.
Character 1: Why not?
Character 2: I do them in my head.
Character 1: Did you tell him that?
Character 2: I did. He said he didn't believe me. He said that if he couldn't do them in my head then I must be cheating.
Character 1: Well, that's ridiculous! How can he fail you for being smarter than he is?
Character 2: That's what I said.
Character 1: [smirks] You did? How'd he take it?
Character 2: He flunked me, remember?

Quote from Movie #12: (Tarzan - Gwen)
Character 1: Mom! Are you sure this water's sanitary? It looks questionable to me!

Quote from Movie #13: (Step Up - Charli)
Character 1:
What? I'm not late.
Character 2:
You're not dressed either... You can change at the back.
Character 1:
I can change here...
Character 2: I told you to bring tights.
Character 1:
Do I look like I own tights?

Quote from Movie #14: (Phantom of the Opera - Dad)
Character 1:
Raoul, I've seen him! Can I ever forget that sight? Can I ever escape from that face? So distorted, deformed, it was hardly a face in that darkness... darkness... But his voice filled my spirit with a strange, sweet sound. In that night there was music in my mind... And through music my soul began to soar! And I heard as I'd never heard before.

Quote from Movie #15: (Elf - Theresa)
Character 1: Why are you smiling like that?
Character 2: I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite.

Quote from Movie #16: (Take the Lead - Mom)
Character 1:
I want to teach your kids to dance.
Character 2:
If theres' one thing they can do, it's dance.
Character 1:
Ballroom dance? Waltz, the foxtrot?
Character 2:
Ok, where's the camera? Because if you're saying that you want to teach my kids the foxtrot I have to be on TV.

Quote from Movie #17: (Peter Pan (2003) - Gwen)
Character 1:
My unfulfilled ambition is to write a great novel in three parts about my adventures.
Character 2:
What adventures?
Character 1:
I've yet to have them, but they will be perfectly thrilling.

Quotes from Movie #18: (Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End - Gwen)
Character 1: Up is down. That's just maddeningly unhelpful. Why are these things never clear?

Quotes from Movie #19: (Stranger Than Fiction - Mom)
Character 1:
So, are you a frequenter of the Metropolitan Transit Authority too?
Character 2:
No, I'm just late.
Character 1:
Big flag burning to get to?
Character 2:
Actually, it's my weekly evil-conspiracy and needlepoint group. You wanna come?
Character 1:
I left my thimbles and socialist reading material at home.

Quotes from Movie #20: (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Mom)
Character 1:
You're all quite short, aren't you?
Character 2:
Well yeah, we're children.
Character 1:
Well that's no excuse. I was never as short as you.
Character 3:
You were once.
Character 1:
Was not. Know why? Because I distinctly remember putting a hat on top of my head. Look at your short little arms. You could never reach.

K, that's all of 'em guys! Bonus points if you can name the characters too!

Yay, life.

Well, my mom's been nagging me to update my blog, so here's the latest on me:

I'm failing Chemistry; I'm probably failing Spanish, English, and History; I bombed my ACTs; I'm exhausted. In short, I simply have no hope of climbing out of this hole I've dug myself into.

So I won't get into BYU--big deal, right? Maybe Germana will take me.

But besides all that, life is just fantastic. I love life. Living is my favorite thing ever.

And no, I don't need your pity, advice, or help. I'm fine. I wouldn't post this at all except that my mom wants me to. Now you know why I haven't updated my blog in a week...

Somebody Stole the Moon!

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Because I didn't get to update my blog yesterday, I'll tell you about both yesterday and today.

Yesterday I wore my Ravenclaw sweater to school for the first time. When I ordered it last July, my mom thought I would only wear it to Harry Potter events... Little did she know =)

<-- Picture of it to the left =) I know you'd probably rather see me in my sweater than this random model, but that's just too bad, because I don't like having my picture taken. But yeah, I only got my sweater about a month ago, even though it was ordered back in July. I'm still not entirely sure what happened to the store (Whimsic Alley) that they ignored everyone's orders and contact attempts for months... But hey, I got my sweater, and they refunded the shipping price since it didn't ship on time =) All's well that ends well, I guess ^^

Well, Ben finally gave me back my Peter Pan DVD yesterday. I was very happy to have it back. I highly recommend it if you haven't already seen it. It's my second favorite movie right after Phantom of the Opera. My favorite actor, Jason Isaacs, plays Captain Hook and Mr. Darling in it. -->

Well, in English yesterday a guidance counselor lady came to speak to us about our classes for next year, and we got course booklets and class sign-up sheets.

After much deliberation, I decided to take:

  • DE (Duel Enrollment) English over AP English, despite the fact that Mrs. Brauer probably won't be teaching AP English (she's an awful teacher. I had her for AP English at the beginning of this year and dropped out because I couldn't stand it). Mr. Andrews, the DE English teacher is supposed to be amazing. I've heard nothing but good things about him and the class, even though it's apparently a ton of work (they write like 20-page papers regularly...). I've heard it really prepares you for college, and that's what I need most.
  • Algebra 3 with Trig. over Stats or Math Analysis (It's the middle-level class; Stats is supposedly easier, and Math Analysis is harder)
  • Wind Ensemble (Band)
  • AP U.S. Government and Comparative Government - I'm only taking this because the teacher, Mr. Cooper, is said to be very good. Gregory has him currently and even he likes Mr. Cooper. If it weren't for the teacher, I'd probably say, "Bah, I've had enough of AP classes. Let me go back to CP; I need a GPA booster..."
  • Creative Writing (Elective class) - For this elective slot, I'm currently taking Psychology, and I love it, but there's only one level of psychology, and I've been wanting to take Creative Writing since freshman year anyway. (Oh, and guess what else? Mr. Andrews teaches this too, so I could possibly have him for two classes =))
  • Teacher Cadet Program (Elective class) - I think I'm going to take this instead of continuing my foreign language class to AP Spanish. I mean, I used to love Spanish, and I had planned on taking it up to AP Spanish, but then I got Mrs. Lorenzo for Spanish 4, (eurgh). I kinda feel bad though that I probably won't do Spanish anymore, because my old Spanish teacher, Mrs. Atkinson, really wants me to. I really don't want to take it though, because I think it's keeping me from trying other cool electives.
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology - My other choices are Ecology, Oceanography, and Physics, pretty much. (I say "pretty much" because there are also the AP and DE classes like AP Biology and AP Chemistry, but there's no way I'm taking advanced science classes. Science is NOT my thing.) Of those four CP classes, HA&P is supposedly the third hardest, but I've heard it's not bad. You just have to memorize a lot of things (all the bones and muscles...)
Okay, so last notes on my schedule--
The above is not official. I heard that my current English teacher, Mrs. Tobin, may teach the 12th grade AP English class if there's only one period of it. If that's the case, I'll definitely have to reevaluate whether I should take AP or DE, because Mrs. Tobin is currently like my favorite teacher. I love her!
Secondly-- for the Teaching class, it said something like you need a Family and Consumer Science credit for it, and since I don't have any, I'm not sure I can take it...? It's also only available 7th period, and I don't know how flexible the rest of my classes will be...
It may be that I'll need to choose between this and other classes, and if that's the case, I may need to go with AP Spanish after all.

Anyway, the day was pretty uneventful, so we'll skip to Spanish =) My teacher said she had to put an "imaginary grade" in for me on Friday since I couldn't take the exam. I didn't ask what the grade was that she guessed I would get, because I didn't want to be disappointed in myself when I take the exam for real and fall short of her expectations. Well, I told her I couldn't take the exam that day, so I didn't take it.

After school we had band rehearsal, and that was pretty entertaining =) This girl I don't even really know mouthed to me across the band room that I would look good with short hair... o.O
That was strange, but I think she's really cool, so it's okay ^^ I was just surprised she even knew my name.

Well, rehearsal ended and I had an hour before I had to ride home on the activity bus (I can't drive, and the school's far enough away from my house for it to be an inconvenience for my parents to pick me up, so I take this bus that leaves school at 5:00 pm and drops us off at our various designations). Well, I was going to use the time to work on my homework, but instead I got my ear talked off by this guy, Nick Moffat.
*sighs* How do I get myself into these situations? All he does is complain, and he thinks he's better than he is at flute and basketball and everything (yes, he plays flute). He's a really strange guy. He's also in Mrs. Tobin's 5th period English class (with Ben) and he ranted to me about how she recommended him for CP English (lololol). Then he went off on Mrs. Tobin and how she's a bad teacher and she asks stupid "Hippie" questions...

I just stared at him, dumbfounded, as he ranted about Mrs. Tobin and Mark Twain and society in the 1800's and not knowing what the heck Huck Finn was feeling or how his emotions affected society. He ranted about how we don't know why Mark Twain wrote what he wrote and that it's pointless to analyze things like the feelings of the characters, and how he said he refuses to answer any more "hippie questions". I wracked my brain for some kind of clue as to what he was talking about-- Mrs. Tobin never asked us any questions like that... And THEN he said that at least Mrs. Battista probably asked good, "academic" questions.

Well THAT broke me from my stupor. I will not just sit quietly when someone's praising Mrs. Battista in any way, shape, or form. (If you don't already know, she was, much to my utter dismay, my Honors English teacher for both 9th and 10th grade, and she was the most horrible, wretched teacher I have ever had the misfortune to be "taught" by. I won't talk about her here, because I could probably go on for several hours about how bad a teacher she is, and I can't because I need to get to bed.) I finally spoke up and told him he was wrong, and that he obviously didn't have Mrs. Battista if he thought she asked relevant, "academic" questions.

Well now, don't get me wrong--I'm usually just as quick to defend Mrs. Tobin as I am to criticize Mrs. Battista, but after just a few minutes of listening to Nick's rant about her, I realized he didn't have any idea what he's talking about, so I decided not to waste my breath on him. I mean, the question he said she asked him was simply ludicrous. I KNOW he must have heard the question wrong, or misinterpreted it or something, because it I know Mrs. Tobin wouldn't ask a question like that. So as often as I defend Mrs. Tobin, I mostly kept my mouth shut.

I once heard some very good advice:
"Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience."

Anyway, enough about that. Finally I got home and I spent most of the time before I went to sleep writing in my online diary.

I keep a diary because I'm terribly descriptive, and have a ridiculous tendency to go off on tangents. I know description is supposed to be good, but I'm so descriptive that I make it a fault. To give you an idea for comparison, my diary entries are generally like 5 times longer than this blog entry.

I just...feel really limited blogging, so I need to keep both a blog and a diary--One that satisfies my need to describe every detail about my day, and one that's somewhat less verbose so I can share my life with family and friends without boring them too much =)

Anyway, that stuff was all yesterday. I'll try harder to be pithy and only write about the key points of today since I realize this entry is lengthy enough as it is.
  • I went to a key club meeting this morning, but they didn't have one because there was a blood drive going on (have to be 17 or older to give blood, so I couldn't).
  • We took a pop-quiz in English today, and I'm quite sure I aced it--the test was more just to prove you've been keeping up with reading Huck Finn, and since I have, it was really easy for me.
  • I took a test in math. I didn't finish it, but it's okay because she's giving us the first 10 minutes of class tomorrow to complete it. Again, I think I aced it or nearly aced it.
  • In history, we started talking about World War I.
  • Spanish -- Okay, get this. I was all set to take my exam during class, right? I got a pass to the library and began working on it. I actually found it to be ridiculously easy. I had figured it would eventually get harder, but I wasn't about to complain about doing the easy stuff. In one of my many distracted ADD-moments, I even mused about what I would say when people asked how I thought I did on the exam: "Hah, it was sooo easy! It was almost like I was taking the Spanish 1 exam instead of Spanish 4." Well, time went on and it didn't get any harder. I couldn't believe we were given so many freebie questions! I got to #36 and I finally thought to myself, "... You know... what if this IS the Spanish 1 exam? I wouldn't put it past Mrs. Lorenzo to mix the two of them up..." So I turned to the front of the packet, full of apprehension, and what did I see? "Espanol 1". Yeah. I was taking the Spanish 1 exam. Eurgh. So I went back to class in a huff and glowered at my teacher and informed her of the mix-up. She found it very amusing, and said I didn't have time to start the real exam, so I'd have to take it tomorrow. *sighs* So that's my story. I STILL haven't made up my Spanish exam, and it is STILL my teacher's fault. She's so absent-minded. I should have expected something like that.

And that's it, I believe ^^

Oh, and for the record, "lolz" is the same thing as "lol". It's just something I picked up in my early days on the internet from a friend. The z doesn't mean anything. It's just there =)

Quote of the Day:

"What is 'L-O-L-Z'? What's the Z mean? It has to stand for something. 'Laugh Out Loud Zebra'?" --My Dad

Lolz =DD

Blog Entry #2

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Disclaimer: These blog entries may contain the occasional typo or (heaven forbid) grammatical error. I am not perfect (how ever I appear otherwise), and though I may possess a greater-than-average interest in grammar and correct language, I am still a teenager, and quite frankly am not terribly concerned with run-on or fragmented sentences so long as I'm clearly understood. As for typos, I think they're inevitable, and though they're not always caught somehow the world will keep spinning.

But I digress. :-)

As you've probably already read in someone else's blog (one downside to having individual blogs in the same family), the weather was amazing today. As soon as I woke up and went upstairs I was asked to put some shoes on Isabelle so she could play outside, and I couldn't believe how warm it was. Unfortunately I couldn't stay out because I had to shower and get ready for the day.

After showering I noticed it had gotten a lot darker outside, signaling the impending rain. I hurried to get dressed so I could sit on the patio and read in the rain, but by the time I was ready the rain had already come and gone. Crazy weather, huh?

So I got on my computer, sorted my avatars (the 100x100 pictures I'm using every entry are called avatars. I kind of collect them, so you can expect to see a bunch =)), helped Gwen make a blog for herself, and then told Christopher to make one. I also told Karen and Russell to make blogs (obsessed? me? no way!). Russell made one, but I don't think he'll really use it. Oh well ^^

I IMed Charli (a friend from church) and Karen (one of my best friends). Karen asked me to read over her research paper for her. She always helps me fix my papers, so of course I returned the favor =) I enjoy editing things anyway. However, I found it a little disconcerting that her paper was only 3 pages long and she's in AP English. I mean, my paper had to be 8 pages long for my Honors English class... Something seems wrong with that.
I don't know, I mean, she DID say she wasn't finished with it, but I don't imagine she had another 5 pages somewhere that she just didn't show me...
(And I don't mean to diminish what you wrote, Karen. The 3 pages I read were very good. I just think it's odd that for being in a higher-level class than me, I seem to have significantly harder requirements...)

Well, there was a quote in Karen's essay that struck me as particularly amusing and I thought I'd share it with you here (her paper was on George Orwell's "Politics and the English Language," and like how politicians manipulate their words and use "doublespeak" to control the views of the public): "I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means --except by getting off his back." --Leo Tolstoy

Isn't that the truth though? =)

Here's another one I like, by George Orwell: "Political language… is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind."

Anyway, I had to leave in the middle of editing to go to Chuck E. Cheese with my family. I took two books with me: The House of the Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain--both books I have to read for English.

Actually, if I'm going to be honest, I don't HAVE to read HotSG anymore. I was supposed to have had that read a few months ago, and now that we've completely finished all work and tests on it, I really don't have to read it anymore. I'm determined to finish it anyway... someday.

It's just that it's incredibly dull. I'd like to see you try and read it. I mean, I do like Nathaniel Hawthorne in a way, but his books are so tedious. I simply don't have the attention span for it. Even The Scarlet Letter was more tolerable than House of the Seven Gables because it was easy to find meaning in it. I still don't really get what the point is in studying HotSG. Huckleberry Finn, on the other hand, is a great book. I find it very entertaining and hope to read Tom Sawyer... someday... =)

So. Chuck E. Cheese. I read, hmm, probably 2-3 pages in HotSG, which was bad even for me. I can usually get in a good 10 pages in one sitting before I'm bored out of my mind (and you wondered why it's taking me months to read...)

We ate pizza, I played Gwen at air hockey (and won, though she was in the lead for a while), played my Dad at air hockey (and won again, though we were tied for the game point), and had my picture done with Aleks. I tried several times to pick my book back up, but eventually just gave up. We then went to Carl's and I got a strawberry ice cream cone, which was quite good.

Gregory didn't go with us to Chuck E. Cheese so he didn't get any ice cream. I made sure to tell him when we got home that we all went to Bruster's and got waffle cones, hahaha (inside joke).

Okay, now I've seriously got to go to bed, because it's 1:03 AM and I have to get up in 3 hours to get ready for seminary (yay! u.u)

I may have to stay after school tomorrow to make up my Spanish exam. Ben thinks I should refuse to take it and demand a 100 on it because it's her fault I didn't get to take it in class on Thursday and Friday (lolz), and that should she try to negotiate, the lowest I should settle for is a 90. Hah-hah. Ben's such a funny guy.

Very First Post...

I really need to get to bed, but I thought I might as well post something in here now that I've got a blog all set up. A couple days ago my mom said I should keep a blog instead of a journal (hah, as if!), and I just now read on my family's blog that my dad wants us kids to keep our own blogs, so I thought, "All right, whatever, let's do this."

I don't expect I'll update much, (or if I do that it will be anything worth reading/seeing), but I guess it wouldn't kill me to summarize the goings-on of my life every now and then.

And with that, I'm off to bed (with a school-free Monday to look forward to!)
